Terms of Use

Last updated: 22 September 2026

These terms cover your use of musicpaperlab.com and everything you generate or download from it. By using the site you accept them. They are deliberately permissive — the point of Music Paper Lab is that the paper is genuinely free to use.

What you may do

You may, at no cost and without asking permission:

  • Generate, print, download and photocopy anything on this site.
  • Use it in lessons, rehearsals, classrooms, studios or at home.
  • Hand printed copies to your students or bandmates, including full class sets.
  • Write your own music on it and do whatever you like with that music.
  • Include a printed sheet in a lesson pack you give out for free.

This applies to schools, conservatoires, libraries and non-profits as much as to individuals. No attribution is required, though a link back is always welcome.

Your music is yours

Anything you write on paper generated here belongs entirely to you. We claim no interest of any kind in your compositions, arrangements or transcriptions, and the generator runs in your own browser, so we never see them in the first place.

What we ask you not to do

  • Don’t resell our files, on their own or inside a paid bundle, on Teachers Pay Teachers, Etsy, Amazon or anywhere else.
  • Don’t rehost them. Please don’t upload our PDFs or images to another website, file-sharing service or app for redistribution. Link to the page instead — that way people always get the corrected, current version.
  • Don’t claim them as your own or strip identifying marks in order to do so.
  • Don’t scrape the site in bulk or use automated tools that degrade it for other users.

If you want to do something these terms don’t cover, ask — get in touch and the answer is usually yes.

Ownership

The Music Paper Lab name, logo, site design, generator software and the specific layout and presentation of our paper and charts belong to us. Music theory does not — nobody owns the circle of fifths or the notes of a G major scale — and the permissions above are a licence to use our material, not a transfer of ownership.

Accuracy, and no warranty

We generate every chord diagram, scale, key signature and clef reference programmatically and check them, because a wrong fingering in front of a student is worse than no diagram at all. Even so, the site and its files are provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, that every file will print correctly on every printer, or that a chord voicing or fingering suits your instrument, tuning or hand. Check a sheet before you rely on it in a lesson, and tell us if something is wrong so we can fix it for everyone.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from your use of this site or its materials. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any right or guarantee that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable consumer protection law.

Advertising and third-party links

This site is funded by advertising. Ads are served by third parties, and their presence isn’t an endorsement by us. We also link to other websites from time to time; we’re not responsible for their content or their terms. How advertising affects your data is set out in the privacy policy.

Changes

We may update these terms as the site grows. The date at the top shows when they last changed, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms. Anything you have already printed stays covered by the terms as they were when you printed it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
