How many staves per page?
The right number of staves depends on who is writing and what for. Here is a quick guide.
Beginners: 4–6 large staves
Young learners and early lessons do best with a few big, widely spaced staves, so noteheads are easy to draw and read. Our large staff paper uses six.
General use: 10–12 staves
Ten to twelve staves per page is the standard for melodies, theory work and everyday writing — enough room per line, enough lines per page.
Composing and sketching: 12+
When you are drafting quickly or need several instruments, denser pages (twelve or more) let you fit a whole idea on one sheet. Set the exact number in the generator before you print.
